Manchester International Airport Parking

Manchester Airport offers the highest quality airport parking facilities for any passengers’ requirements and budget. This is a major international airport, situated 14 km from central Manchester, and handles over 28 million passengers per year. Although ‘The Station’, Manchester Airport’s ground transportation hub, offers bus, coach and train transportation to and from virtually any destination in Northern England, many passengers arrive at the airport in their own vehicle. Therefore, Manchester Airport has ensured that their parking facilities are top-class and more than adequate to sustain the number of vehicles which need a place to park.

Manchester Airport consists of three terminal buildings, named Terminal 1,2 and 3, and these terminals all handle international and domestic arrivals and departures. The terminal you will be using depends on your airline company. All the terminals have their own short-stay multi-storey car parks within easy walking distance of the check-in desks, and a shared long-stay car park for Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 is available. Terminal 2 has its own dedicated long-stay car park. Parking for the longer term can also be found in various other car parks, a bit further away from the airport, but at a cheaper parking rate than the more popular areas. Valet Parking and Meet and Greet services are offered for each terminal building.

Passengers may be dropped off free of charge at any of the terminals in the departure zones, but due to security reasons, Manchester Airport does not allow any vehicle to pick up passengers in a free waiting zone. All pick-ups must take place in the short-stay car parks, and there is charge of £2.00 for half an hour of parking. Terminal 1’s short-stay car park has recently been renovated, and each level is now color coded. Each parking space has also been equipped with a sensor and green light, which indicates the available parking spaces.

Short-Stay Multi-Storey Car Parks at Manchester Airport

Each terminal building has its own multi-storey car parking area, and these areas are within walking distance from their relevant terminals. Terminal 1 also provides an arrivals car park for your convenience. All short-stay parking areas at the airport are convenient and secure. The security measures in place include barrier control and 24 hour CCTV surveillance. They are also ISO 9001 accredited. The maximum height of vehicle permitted is two meters (6 ft 6 inches), and no trailers are allowed.

Motorists can reach the short-stay parking areas of Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 by leaving the M56 at Junction 5, and then staying in the right-hand lane following the signposts for Terminal 1 and 3. On the left-hand side you will pass the Hilton Hotel and the Bewleys Hotel. For Terminal 1, take the ramp to the left and enter the car park marked as short-stay, and for Terminal 3, continue to the roundabout, taking the first exit at this roundabout, and continue straight ahead. At the next roundabout, take the third exit, and you will see the multi-storey car park to your right.

Payments for the short-stay parking areas can be made at the various automatic ticket machines in and around the terminal buildings. The machines accept cash, credit cards and debit cards, and receipts are available on request. Alternatively, you can pay at the exit barrier by credit or debit card. A receipt is also provided. Long Stay Parking at Manchester Airport

Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 share one long-stay parking area. A free shuttle bus is available from this area every 15 minutes, in order to provide quick and easy transport to the terminals. This bus is available 24 hours a day, and bus number 3 should be used. The parking area can be found by exiting the M56 at Junction 5, and then by staying in the right-hand lane following the signposts for Terminal 1 and 3. You will pass the Hilton Hotel and the Bewleys Hotel, and then come to a roundabout. Take the first exit at this roundabout, and continue straight to the next roundabout. From here, the second exit will lead you directly to the entrance of the long-stay car park. The parking area is located approximately half a mile from both terminals.

Terminal 2’s long-stay parking area is also about half a mile from the terminal, and is served by a 24 hour shuttle bus, available every 15 minutes. This is bus number 2. To reach this area, motorists should exit at Junction 5 from the M56, stay to the left and take the first exit signposted as Terminal 2. At the first roundabout take the second exit, and at the second roundabout take the second exit again. This exit is signposted as Long Stay Parking. Stay in the right-hand lane and continue straight ahead until you reach a third roundabout, then turn right at the T-junction. Turn left at the next junction and you will see the parking area directly ahead of you.

The height restriction for both parking areas is 2.2 meters (7 ft 2 in), and no trailers are permitted. Pre-booked customers must stay for a minimum of two days. Pre-booked customers are advised not to press the button for a ticket, but simply to insert the debit or credit card which was used to make the booking. The machine will take a few moments to recognize your card, and then provide access to the parking areas. Both long-stay parking areas are manned 24 hours a day, and have security fencing and 24 hour CCTV surveillance.

In addition to these long-stay parking areas, motorists can use the Shuttle Park and the JetParks, which are two new parking areas opened in 2009, and less than a mile from the terminals. It is a cheaper alternative to the other long-term parking areas, and is also served by a shuttle bus every 15 minutes. The Shuttle Parking area is also more cost effective, and is located to the east of Terminal 3. Exit at Junction 5 from the M56, and at the traffic lights follow the signs for Cheadle. At the roundabout take the third exit, and you will see the yellow AA signs indicating the Shuttle Park. You will now be on West Ringway Road. Continue to the traffic lights at the Total petrol station and turn right into Styal Road. The Shuttle Park will then be on your right after a short distance. Security is offered for this parking area, and there is a height restriction of 2.2m (7 ft 2 in). Parking for motorcycles is also available at the Shuttle Park at a rate of £2.00 per day. Payment for motorcycles must be made at reception on arrival at the airport.

Parking for Disabled Motorists at Manchester Airport

Due to strict security measures at Manchester Airport, no waiting is allowed outside the terminal buildings, and vehicles may not be left unattended at any time. However, all the long-stay parking areas have clearly marked disabled bays available, and the shuttle buses which offer transport to the terminals are equipped for disabled passengers. These spaces are located nearby the entrance or reception areas. Disabled parking spaces are also available in the other parking areas, and next to the lifts in the T1 and T2 short-stay car parks.
